Chrome electroplating?

May I have your opinion please on chrome electroplating?

My local electroplating workshop has a minimum order of £60 plus vat. I've spoken to them today and for that amount they will electroplate four razors. They don't carry out gold or rhodium plating.

Has anyone had this process applied to their razor?

Is it hardy and does it last?

Well done for getting a quote, they didn't reply to my enquiry. There's no saying they'd strip the razor(s) (would they even know how or whether they should?) and repair any minor defects beforehand.

Have you tried contacting our very own jaycee-uk? I haven't used his service myself yet but the feedback from those at TSR and ATG who have is that his work is OCD in the preparation and quality department. He also offers gold and rhodium plating but only takes on a number of razors and cases he knows he can devote sufficient time to at any one time. Worth a try.
