What watch are you wearing today (WRUW)

You do get other technical advantages of the sea dweller when compared to the sub: helium escape valve and greater depth rating in addition to the absence of the cyclops. I like the cyclops on a date just, but for some reason not on subs.

I guess I just like the utilitarian look of subs.

You do get more watch with the SD but it’s about another 3.5k for those features. While >300m water resistance and HEV are nice no one actually needs them.

It is still a hell of a nice watch though.

Talking abt the SDDS, let's have a throwback Sunday shot:

The Sea Dweller Deep Sea with its 17+ mm thick case evidently struggles to fit under the cuff. This is the first iteration of the subject model (2008). Recently (2018) Rolex updated the design and specs of this beautiful piece. Over-engineered, not easy to wear with shirt & tie in the office but stunning on the wrist with very strong presence.

And here is a comparison between the SDDS and two other case sizes, Explorer II and Yacht-Master (photo borrowed from the world wide web). The Explorer II's case is not very different to that of the Sub:

Thanks @N_Architect, that's very useful. One of the things I like about my Scurfa is that the case size is similar to a Sub and it's very easy to wear compared to my larger Helson Shark Diver.

Not that I know if I'll ever be in a position to buy one, but the dateless Sub looks more like what I want.

Rolex 16600 Seamaster. By a long way my most expensive watch.

You may want to check the serial number to see if it's a Red Sea Dweller. Sometimes when these watches were refurbished the original dial with the red printing was swapped for one without the red printing. The Red Sea Dweller for some reason is more valuable, although the watches are the same. Just a thought.
