Your first car ?

First car was a 1965 970 Mini Cooper S, would have been worth a fortune if I had kept it.

First motorcycle was a trials bike, a Bultaco Sherpa from 1966, ex Sammy Miller.

Feel sorry for anyone driving a lot on todays roads, the traffic is terrible plus speed cameras and crazy people.

Not really my first car but, it is my wife’s first car. 94 Honda Del Sol. She bought it in 96. It has 224,000 miles on it. Honda Service department said it may need a valve job in another 100,000 miles (we’ll be dead by then) and it is one of the nicest Del Sols around as most of that age are rolling junk heaps if they are still running at all.

1982 Honda Accord...I loved that car and drove it until it quit. I think it had over 250K miles on it, no joke.View attachment 57877
Also had an Accord in the early 80s, a 1600 automatic. I did 50,000 , miles in the first year then sold it to a friend, he ran it to 100,000 over the next three years, he sold it to his brother, the car has 260,000 with no work done to the engine or gearbox. I stressed to the the buyers that frequent oil changes were essential, we used Mobil 1 every 5000 miles.

I replaced this Accord with a 2000 auto and then a Prelude, great cars.

I knew of a multi millionaire car auction owner who chose to drive a Prelude, lovely car. I've had two Hondas over a 13 year period and 200k miles and had a total of 1 unscheduled replacements - a relay, fixed whilst I waited for £50. My Civic did 130k and it was still on the original exhaust and was doing slightly better MPG than when I first bought it.

JMO....cars built today are better than cars built in the 1970’s. Japan forced American auto manufacturers to make more reliable cars or lose market share. Probably the same in Europe.

My first car I bought for $10. The 1959 Fury with 361 wedge hemi & push button 3sp on the dash.

I saw one go across auction for $75,000 last year. I traded mine for 1966 Chevy Chevelle super sport, which I traded in for a 1969 Dodge Charger.
All when I was 15-16 years old.

I had a friend in the late 60’s and early 70’s that used to buy old Packards and Studebakers. He'd drive them till they dropped then get another. They were cheap.....THEN!

I had a 66 Study Daytona in my front yard for a year trying to find parts for it.
One day a guy came by and offered me 4 times what I paid for it.
I sure hope he enjoys it as much as the Mrs enjoyed his money.

First car, A 1979 Ford LTD, 4 door with a V8-351 engine. I called it "The Boat" Quite a step up from anything I drove in the UK growing up, huge bench seat in the front and a total chick magnet, in its day. Funny thing was, unlike everyone else in the picture, I didn't need a ski rack on the roof, since the skis fit right in the trunk (boot). It burned about 22 litres of petrol to 100km on the highway at the speed limit. Good times!
