They are nice watches, I’ve had two. BUT, I wouldn’t get another. Why ? Well both have stopped working. What happens is the capacitor goes after around five years. The capacitor being the battery that stores the energy from the light. These are not as cheap as having a battery replaced. Easy to tell if the capacitor is going on an eco drive is it counts two seconds instead of one in one movement of the second hand.
Did either of you get more info on this? That is interesting, I'll see how it pans out. I love the look of Citizen watches, and I think for what you get, they are very reasonable priced.
No, still have my two with the knackered capacitors, wait for a moment when I pop them on ebay for spare or repair.Did either of you get more info on this?
Thinking of a used Eco drive
Cheers
I’ve asked the seller how old it is. It’s out of warranty for sureNo, still have my two with the knackered capacitors, wait for a moment when I pop them on ebay for spare or repair.
mmm, just checked ebay for capacitor, much better on price now. Think I need to look at that as it’s just as easy as a new battery ?
A capacitor should last approx ten years, so the £15 for a new capacitor is well worth it.I’ve asked the seller how old it is. It’s out of warranty for sure
Can you send me a link please? Make sure you check that’s the right one for your watch.
Does indeed look as easy as a new batteryNo, still have my two with the knackered capacitors, wait for a moment when I pop them on ebay for spare or repair.

I invested in a tool to get watch backs off. I’ve done a fair few battery changes on quartz watches, obviously it won’t have the same water tight seal but I wouldn’t ever go swimming with a watch on.Does indeed look as easy as a new battery
That's what puts me off the likes of the Eco drive, a new battery costs about £1.50 and lasts for approx five years.A capacitor should last approx ten years, so the £15 for a new capacitor is well worth it.
Does seem a flawed concept, some great looking ones thoughThat's what puts me off the likes of the Eco drive, a new battery costs about £1.50 and lasts for approx five years.
