Weight loss time

@Wayne thanks for posting this. For the last 3 years I've felt a little like I need to lose a couple of kilos, but it's never been enough to trouble me - more like a 'wouldn't it be nice' but this winter with lockdown it's become a problem and your post made me realise I can't just cut back a little on portion size or drinking or indulgent snacking. For me it all or nothing so as from yesterday it's black coffee / tea and water every working day until 18:00ish and then I'll eat my evening meal and a few drinks and at the weekends I'll eat breakfast and dinner and drink.

Hopefully I'll lose the 7kg I want to and it'll give me the chance to go for a quick 15 min walk at lunchtime.
Good luck buddy.

Ive not tried the hot meals yet, only been using the shakes. Might have to try them now they have released some new flavours

I am also T2 since 2017 and still overweight, obese actually (51yo, 5ft. 9in. and 113kg.)
Cannot take metformin due to I.B.S.

Last year I did a very strict diet and lost 26kg in 7 weeks, which was crazy.
2hrs walk every am, crunches, diet was 3 very small meals totaling no more than 800-900 cal for every 24hrs, and also did 1 full hr of swimming in the afternoon. Plenty of water daily.

But my body reacted after the first 5 weeks, gave me a skin rash that was increasingly popping up everywhere.
Had to be admitted into a specialist hospital for skin diseases.

Fast forward 15 months, to today, and I have gained 20kg back. But I eat like mad.

Re the One Meal A Day, and IF, I have heard that it does not work as well for people above 45-50 yrs.
Is that true?

Also, appreciate all the insights here, but are we sure that this strategy is suitable for all people?
I am not convinced about that, certainly can try of course.
The other thing is that not all doctors will encourage you to do IF.
So there is always conflict and confusion, or this is how I feel anyway.

Great thread, by the way.

I forget about where Huel started. I had the vanilla shakes when they first started out. Used them for breakfast at work. Never could get my head around a Vanilla shake for Lunch...

Agreed K. No one "Diet" will fit everyone. I could/would never even consider any type of extreme diet. But I guess they can and do work for some.

I weighed myself this morning and have lost 16lbs so far, that is great, I hven't had indigestion for ages, feel fitter and have more energy. I have a long way still to go but I anticipate 4-6lbs per week now weight loss. As said though, this battle is not the War won. It's what I do the other end that will count.

No Chris,
I use Exante Diet shakes. Very similar, pumped full of vitimins and the things to just about keep you alive while scientifically keeping your bodies calorie intake at the perfect level to force it to use it's stores of fat as an energy source by putting you into Ketosis and keeping you there as long as you stick to it. After the first week all hunger pangs disappear and you are free to just get on with it. It's perfect for me as I thrive on routine so by setting up a three shake day I quickly fall into it and just get on with it.
Good luck mate, I lost a decent chunk of weight on Exante myself. Problem was almost all the non-vegan stuff made me shit like a trooper and it wasn’t going away after a month. I moved to the vegan shakes and it got better but there’s little to no variety as part of them so I stopped.

If your tummy can handle them though you’ll absolutely lose weight.

I have used them before a couple of times, both times losing 7 stones, no ill effects for me luckily and variety means nothing to me as I just make them, neck them and move on, regardless of flavour, it's down in seconds so even if I had to just have one flavour it wouldn't matter. I'm lucky that way.

My wife has been on the keto (shake diet) for an entire month, and has lost an entire six pounds. No further comment is allowed on my part.
