As I predicted, the buyer is a waste of oxygen so will be relisting them tomorrow
How can that be? Has the buyer simply refused to go ahead? I thought that was not allowed. The Japanese site I use insists on payment when you lodge a bid - even if it’s a snipe.

No contact or payment received and he's got 6 feedback from the past 12 months saying he never sent payment for items won. Second highest bidder is based in Russia and has similar issues, will probably set it to UK only next time, if that means they go for £50 so be it lol.

AFAIK there is no longer any deterrent against such behavior, eBay used to give non payers three strikes before banning their account but that no longer happens. As a seller you are able to cancel the transaction due to lack of payment/unresponsive buyer after 5 days and that's it, has no affect on their account.

I had hoped to be able to save the embellishment for originality sake (what are these actually called as it's not etched? More like printed) but over half of it was really badly pitted so had to go. Not the end of the world as personally I find they look tacky anyway, I always favour a plain blade.

It cleaned up pretty nicely I hope you'll agree :)

+1 to clean blade over (IMO tacky) gold etching. There's a beauty to a clean, mirror-like blade. Beautiful work. These look almost new!

Phase one complete on these two, both ready for a rescale...

My ancestors razor looks better in the flesh, I think it's going to become a smiler in the process of removing that chip. Hopefully the pitting isn't so bad it prevents a usable bevel, if that is the case it'll make a nice ornament :)

Looks like you managed to set a bevel on the family razor - now to see if it shaves well.
Alas it wasn't me, I've not bothered with honing yet. Got a local chap to do this, seen some of his work on Facebook and he seemed to specialise in reviving old knackered blades of the sort I would discard without a second thought. He got the chip out, gave it a bit of a smile and honed it whilst at it.

Used it this morning, got an OK shave, it certainly cuts hair but not the closest and a little tuggy feeling. I think it was finished on j-nat which I'm not a fan of personally, just don't like the feel they impart.
