SE blades use - Spoil yourself

I think like many Shavers I tried to get maximum use out of a blade. Finally settled for getting 8 Shaves out of most blades. We kid ourselves that we are being economical because blades are expensive, but think nothing of lashing out on high end Brushes/ After Shave etc.

For my last Two shaves, I have binned the blades after 5 uses. The Shaves in both Razors were very enjoyable with fresh blades. Was it really wasteful ?
the Schick Proline P30 brought years ago from Japan were less than £10 delivered, even brought in UK not overly expensive. So why not bin blades early and you may find Shaves so much nicer.

Agreed. There’s nothing more disappointing than a less than stellar blade edge (he says, pointing to sig line). Superman would be impressed with my stubble. I‘m pretty sure my whiskers cause divots in thin DE blades. I’m firmly in the camp of changing out blades before they become uncomfortable. For me, most DE blades are binned after one or two shaves. The few times I try to stretch a double edge blade to three shaves I almost always stop after a stroke or two to swap out the old for new. Injector blades I’ll go to 5 or 6 uses, and GEMs, 8 or 9. It’s just not worth the potential for razor burn and irritation when all that’s needed is a fresh blade.

When I’m not testing out a bunch of new razors/blades and just shaving normal I usually get 3-4 shaves out of most DE blades but now that I have a lifetime supply I’ll likely cut that back to 2-3 shaves to get optimal performance.

I’ve only used one injector blade up so far and it was a vintage Schick Krome and I got 9-10 shaves from it but the last 2-3 were definitely not as sharp. I only have a couple shaves on the new Personna but already like it better.

I haven’t shaved with GEMs enough either but remember I got 5-6 shaves on a Personna blade last year before I moved back into DE razors and the blade still felt great.

I just got a Yaqi Romulus along with some other razors and plan to test it out with different blades. My first blade loaded is a Kai regular but have some Feather Pros to test as well. I tried to fit a Proline blade on the head but it didn’t fit.

It’ll be interesting to see how many shaves I can get with these AC blades and if I like the platform I plan on ordering a La Faulx since everyone loves them.

I’d be interested in your La Faulx review!

I push my Personna 74 injector blades to at least 20 four-pass shaves, but it's not really a push. They do last that long.
Anything else: I don't keep track of anything anymore, but the slightest idea of tugging or pulling - they go—even mid-shave.
Only other exception: Feather DE blades. I bin them after the first use, knowing they won't last the second one. Lovely blades though.
Most of my shaves are GEM blades and if I had to guess... 6 four-pass shaves?
I need to buy a few more hundred GEM blades before they are discontinued...
I don't want to be in a situation where I must push them.
TL;DR: I agree. Don't push blades to save money—stupid idea.
