Our Badger Knot Properties

Gentlemen,

Nancy and I cordially invite you to our expanded Badger Knot Types & Properties website page.

Our objectives in developing this expanded page are to describe the knots that fill our shaving brushes and, perhaps more importantly, to answer many of the questions we receive on a daily basis from those just starting out in wet shaving as well as from those with many years' experience in this fascinating hobby.

Although the characteristics of Morris & Forndran knots have been explored for years in the wet shaving fora, our focus here is to bring that knowledge up to date. At the same time, we pull back the covers to discuss some of the rigor that goes on behind the scenes with our BSSW knots.

As a husband and wife "micro-business," we might not have the financial resources of some of our competitors; however we believe you will find that the rigor described on this page, combined with our flexibility and attention to your satisfaction are second to none.

Should you wish to further explore the world of our fully hand-crafted shaving brushes, it will be our privilege to be of service.

Best regards,

Brad, Nancy, and (of course) Gus

I like rigour and system. Thus a like from me here.

Allow me also to add, I like the three band I have from you, Brad. So much, I’d even say it’s the best three band I’ve ever tried. Your first gen Manchurian three band. Performs best with double soaking time and set a little deeper than you would prefer yourself, but most knots loosen up with time anyway. Compared to Simpsons Super, it’s a tad closer to two band shaft characteristics, a little thicker and consequently less needle-like.

Grand old thanks for a superb knot!

Thank you for your kind words, Halvor. I wish we were still able to source the first gen 3-band, and with that said: our current generation Super has also received some very nice reviews. Like Lee's M&F Blonde, it's a very well balanced knot (although with different characteristics.) In fact, a 28/52 bulb is one of my go-to brushes.
