It's now got a name and release date. No Time To Die is due out in early April 2020. Can't wait. I really like the Craig version of Bond. If this is his last, it will be interesting to see who will fill those shoes. More to come.

Delighted that Phoebe Waller was brought on board to work on the script, her talent just shone on Flea Bag and Killing Eve, no doubt there will be a noticeable difference in what has gone before. Also great that the black British actress Lashana Lynch has been cast as 007 - apparently taking over Bonds secret agent number after his character leaves MI6...

Craig has a 50% success rate for me, loved Casino Royale and Skyfall, but Quantum of Solace and Spectre were very disappointing.

Much of the success....or failure....of a movie has to do with the writing, the script and the plot. Given how good Craig can be, I'd say it's not Craig that made those two unbearable for you but the writing. I have to agree with you on Spectre. Sort of convoluted to me. I liked the other three. But you have to admit the car chase scene with the Aston Martin vs. the Jaguar was pretty cool. If I had any complaint it would be that they don't show much driving of the Aston. They usually have one scene where he is given the car and in the next scene he totals it. Give us some longer driving scenes and I'd be happy.

I think QoS can be largely blamed on the screenwriters' strike that was going on at the time, but TBH I wasn't even convinced by his performance in Spectre. The car chase was good though. :)

That would be great. Finaly a lady as 007.
Think of al the fast cars, the collisions, the explosions. The cars she totals. And that all only when she is trying to park her car.
...yes, hopefully Phoebe Waller will deliver a script that enables the characters to play-off each other and create some chemistry...

I heard that too after I posted this. I'm all for women's equality and all but Ian Fleming wrote the character as a man. A female Bond wouldn't be Bond. It would be an entirely different character. There were also rumors that Idris Alba might be the new Bond. I guess we'll have to wait until the new Bond has been picked.

"A View to a Kill" was the last real Bond movie IMO, after that it was just explosions and stupid stunts. They were just riding on the franchise to make money. If someone had made the later movies under a different title they would have lost big money.

I only love the bond movies played by roger moore and sean connory , like tobyc stated the new movies focus on the sfx , rather than the storyline.

I grew up with Connery and Moore as Bond and never really liked the films.
"Our Man Flint" was more up my street.
The only Bond film I've liked from beginning to end was Daniel Craig's "Casino Royale".
To be pedantic James Bond's replacement is to be a female, she won't be James Bond.
This has come as a relief to me because if Idris Elba became James Bond the first 45 mins of the film would've been him standing beside the Aston being asked by a policeman, "Are you the owner of this vehicle?"

I too grew up with Connery and Moore as Bond and to me they are Bond still. With Craig they lost a bit of the humour but he is still OK. Idris Elba would be interesting as would a female lead.

The Bond movies stretch over such a long time period that it is not really far to compare the old ones to the new. The filming techniques have vastly improved over those years.

Phoebe Waller is somewhere towards being a bit of a genius as a writer. It was strikingly obvious how much Killing Eve Series 1 was better than Series 2 when she was just supervising rather than actually writing the dialogue. It pretty much fell off a cliff. She's hot property right now for sure.

My favourite Bond, and in fact the only one I liked at all, was Roger Moore. He defined the role for me, but like Dr. Who, time and it's culture moves on to other creations.
