Mystery straight restored to former glory

As the title says this one is a bit of a mystery as it has no indication of the maker or country of origin. It appears to be of good quality because the tang is a solid piece of ivory with a cut-out to accept the blade. However, it came to me in cheap black scales which I doubt were the originals. I’m aware that sometimes razors were manufactured with no marks so that they could be used in ‘Gentlemen’s sets’ so it’s possible that this is one of those and had replacement scales fitted.

Anyway, I found an old set of ivory scales in my junk box and they make a decent colour match. Seems to have taken a nice edge - I’m just off to shower and try it out. Thanks for looking.

This is my favourite razor shape - it’s also quite a long blade - and I was happily taking off 3 days growth when the toe dug into my chin. Nothing too serious and the end result was extremely good, so, it’s a keeper.
