I'm all for Silicone sealant for setting knots. It's all I use now and I set coins to adjust the height as required. Epoxy is too good for this task, it is a sod to remove, whereas Silicone will just pull apart easily but still hold more than strong enough for a shaving knot. As with epoxy less is more and you do not need a lot to do what you need. A small blob into the bottom of the hole then place the coin and push it down, and subsequent small blobs and coins until you find the loft you like, a small blob of silicone on the knot base and set with a slight twist and leave to set overnight. If you don't like it afterwards it will pull out without damaging the handle or knot.
