Review English Wilkinson Sword - Part I

Lest there be any doubt that the New and the slightly later packs with the “5” are the same blade (despite the stamp on the blade being different) a pillar of New recently sold (20 packs of 3) upon which we see the same sword image used. Wilkinson Sword always used a different sword on their different products; here we see it is the same sword. Below you will see the pillar of New with tucks of 3 (blades also in a wrapper with blue print) next to the the pillar in which my tucks of 5 arrived.

Here we see the ‘early’ New, noting the blue wrapper writing:

Another Super Sword Edge variant:

I suspect that the 'New' reference on the the pillar refers to the sales format

No differences here from other variants

The first Super Sword Edge that I've seen with a packaging reference. Note the low number in the series - 004/016. It's reasonable to assume that these must be some of the last blades produced of this variant.

A very simple design on the back of the tuck similar to later variants.

So far these shave very well. I'm starting to believe that WS adopted a process of continuous improvement with the Super Sword Edge.

Really good to see, Sean. Also note that the blades themselves are the 'shiny' ones, which adds to the intrigue concerning that particular variation.
I remember reading on another forum in a discussion about Schick blades that the shine in that instance can be attributed to polishing rather a different alloy

Hello,
I bought old Wilkinson razor blades and saw that there was no printing on the razor blade.
Has anyone encountered such razor blades?
These are razor blades from around the 1970s, so they should not be without print. I have a lot of razor blades from this year and each one has a print on it. There is no "made in England" inscription on the plastic packaging.
Razor blades originally packed in foil

Your blades are almost certainly late 1960's rather than 1970's.

The absence of 'Made In England' on the plastic tuck isn't so rare, but the blank blade is. I've only seen one previous example: https://atgshaving.com/threads/english-wilkinson-sword-part-ii.14452/

I suspect that it's a manufacturing failure, but not critical enough for the blades to be rejected
