Review Eco Warrior Shaving Bar

I saw this in Boots, Charing X, London: https://www.boots.com/eco-warrior-m...ergamot-and-lime-essential-oils-100g-10276302

The ingredients looked a little better than most non-specialist shaving soap makers offerings; i.e. potassium stearate first, not sodium:

Potassium Stearate (Rapeseed Oil), Sodium Stearate (Rapeseed Oil), Potassium Palm Kernelate*, Sodium Palm Kernelate*, Aqua (Water), Glycerin (Rapeseed Oil, Sustainable Palm Oil* and Palm Kernel Oil*), Parfum (a blend made from Pure Essential Oils including Bergamot, Lime, Patchouli and Gum Rock Rose), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Coconut Acid, Limonene**, Potassium Cocoate (Coconut Oil), Sodium Cocoate (Coconut Oil), Potassium Palmate*, Sodium Palmate*, Tetrasodium Etidronate (prevents changes in Texture and Fragrance), Pentasodium Pentetate (prevents changes in Texture and Fragrance), Linalool**, *Made from 100% RSPO certified sustainable Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Oil, **Allergen - Naturally occurring within the Essential Oils.
In short you get a 100g rectangular bar of hard soap (not triple milled) for £4.00

Just one shave (and a test) to date, but it was actually pretty decent:

Scent: Innocuous enough mild - medium lime and bergamot
Ease of lathering - no difficulties whatsoever
Cushion - better than most, excellent
Slickness - slightly above average
Residual slickness - average
Post shave - good. Neither greasy or drying post shave

Whilst not top tier e.g. DG Milksteak, this is a very reasonable soap and the maker should be commended for actually researching properly rather than just relabelling a bath soap. Certainly at £4 for 100g it's very good VFM and importantly it's very positive that a mainstream bricks and mortar store is prepared to take on a product like this.

Looks interesting and should be better than the WS tubs (though I haven't tried it). Did you use it like a shave stick or load on the bar?

It's definitely a step up from the 'blue bowl of death'

I loaded straight from the bar and intend to grate it into a tub for ease of use. I hadn't thought of the shave stick option, but that seems like a good idea

Thanks for posting up your thoughts Sean, I might pick one if I see it in my local Boots.

IMO, it could be a good travel shaving soap; it'd fit in one of those plastic soap boxes.

Although in a completely different order, some of the ingredients look similar to the ones found in the Pre De Provence soaps.

I've just used this soap and I thought it was excellent. I loaded it by holding it in my hand although as @SeanC said, it would be easy to grate it into a tub.
I honestly thought it performed better than some artisan shave soaps I've used.

It’s excellent, third shave this morning with it, the lime fragrance is lovely as well as a great performance

I was gifted a bar of this and the Bath soap too very kindly by @Kevy.
I must admit to not using it yet though, as I did intend to cut the bar up and take some on holiday as my Shave Soap and Shower Soap. Sadly due to Covid, that will not happen now..Boo! I was going to use it as a Shave stick, rub it on the face, then lather with a brush. I nice light packing option. I will save it for next year, when hopefully we can begin to get back to normal.

I just dip the bar in the basin of warm water then rub the soap over the beard , give the damp brush a quick swirl on the bar of soap and face lather

I grated a bar into a wide tub but it really didn’t want to pack down solid at all. I mixed a little glycerin in and added a little almost boiling water. It then solidified beautifully in the tub with the back of a spoon. I left the lid off for a few days and it’s excellent
