I recently bought the Dscosmetics AX (clone of WR2) and already found the blade feel on 1.15 quite much. Will that increase with the higher gaps 1.35 and 1.55?
I've recently bought the AX.. and so far I've used the 1.15 and 1.35 plates.. I'm going to guess that you're using a shallow angle, and 'riding the cap'? I found with the 1.15 that normal/neutral angle worked well for me and was not in slightest unpleasant.. with the 1.35 I found that ATG a steeper angle was called for (riding the safety bar).. try it with the steeper/neutral angles, and it goes without saying 'let the razor do the work..'
It depends entirely on the razor, typically blade exposure does increase with gap but it depends on the manufacturer's specs. There's no way of knowing whether a rip-off of a WR2 will have the same geometry as the original.
They are too different measures. The Blackbird has a relatively small gap and a relatively large exposure. This works best for me as the greater exposure causes more (but not uncomfortable) blade feel which I find guiding. A large gap on the other hand, I find to sometimes trap skin and cause weepers or nicks if not very careful.
