We never knew how good we had it 10 years ago.
I agree.

A few years after I'd got into this hobby (which is just under 10 years ago) my go to soaps were largely mass produced tallow soaps like Palmolive stick, tallow Tabac, Vitos Red, MWF and a few others. None of these soaps are still in production in their tallow based formulations. A few have gone entirely, and a few have returned in different formulations.

I do enjoy using soaps made by independents but for whatever reason I seem to prefer mass produced soaps. I've got enough of the soaps I mentioned to last me a good while, but IMO it's a shame that those who are yet to discover this hobby will not have staples like the Palmolive and Wilkinson Sword stick on the UK high street.

Proraso Wood and Spice shaving cream… what a lack it leaves in my soap collection! Preshave, aftershave balm and cologne are still available though. Why did they stop the production of the soap I wonder…

I believe the long handle Super Adjustable was the SA109. The 109 being the length of the handle.

Model numbers are fun, aren’t they? I used to be able to rattle off every model of every guitar ever made by Martin, Gibson and Fender. And to a lesser extent, Gretsch, Guild and Rickenbacker. But in the last few decades they’ve all introduced sooo many new models, Martin being the biggest offender, imo. I gave up trying to keep up on all the guitar minutiae about 15 years ago. It seems there’s even more to know about razor history than guitar history.

We’re fortunate to have members in our community who are committed to researching, documenting and archiving the history of this fascinating institution we call wet shaving. It’s quite fascinating .
