At what point does this become a collection?

It was just dumb luck that my first brush was a bristle / boar brush, marketed as a Proraso Bristle - but is an Omega branded brush. Under £10 off Amazon and a joy to use, particularly now it’s broken in. I also bought a synthetic Yaqi 24 mm knot - really because I’d read synthetics dry quicker than bristle and my logic was to have a rotation going, allowing the bristle to fully dry out before reaching for it again. The synth would also double as a cheap travel brush - no biggie if it got lost in transit etc. Finally, I fancied trying a badger brush, but was actually driven by the handle length, I really wanted to try the old traditional style handle - because of living in the UK, choice with UK suppliers for this style was thin on the ground, so I turned to EBay. The longer handle on the Badger is a joy to use and wish all my brushes had this style of handle.
On the whole I’m happy with what I’ve got and probably wouldn’t change them just yet, I just wish I’d found the article written by @PLANofMAN before buying, I’d perhaps have been able to have made a slightly more informed choice.

I forgot to mention, whilst searching for the longer handle traditional style badger I came across a guy on EBay who restored vintage brushes - removing the old knot and putting in new, on the likes of makes like Rubberset, Certifyd, Dubl Duck, Hess etc. Nice looking things, but based in the US - so tax costs put pay to trying one.

As an aside, I asked AI what the collective noun was for a collection of shaving brushes, it came back with the following….
There is no established collective noun specifically for shaving brushes. You could use a general term such as a collection of shaving brushes, a set of shaving brushes, or, if you want something more playful, coin your own like a bristle of shaving brushes.

Collection will do.

I used to be surprised at the diversity of what people collect, but now anything and everything goes.

I think what I’ve acquired is an inadvertent collection - the first two, for a rotational duty cycle, the third because it struck me that I’d reached striking distance of 70 years of age and never tried one, so what was I waiting for? I bought one and now my curiosity has been sated and I’ve created a collection.

There is also experience that one cannot achieve by watching or reading. We might say to ourselves, I’ll try this out and see for myself if it’s as good as they say.
