I've never been a user of balms.. only when I get a "crispy" shave. To me, a crispy shave is one the causes irritation under the jaw line in the neck area. Always the first spot to feel irritation. My "go to", product was Nivea After Shave Balm. Not bad, but no scent.
For my last shave, I used some fee samples of Trufitt & Hill products. Pre Shave Oil, Shave Cream, and AS Balm. Everything matched. The Pre Shave Oil left me an oily mess. No more of that! But, I was surprised how well I took to the shave cream, AS balm combination. It got me thinking... in the future, when I buy a soap, I'll buy the matching balm, when available.
Being something of a neophyte in this area, this begs a few questions..
How many here use balms regularly? Do you use a balm in place of an aftershave lotion? I would think that alcohol from a splash would negate the effects of the balm. Am I correct? Are there any combos that you like better than others? BTW, it doesn't need to be paired up with a cream, could be a hard soap also..
All comments welcome..
