Look cool you made all that by yourself? That's sick! you sell them too?View attachment 103321
Hand-carved with a tooled finish left by the knife shown. No sandpaper was used. Smaller one in Oak with a 26mm Maseto Silvertip for yours truly and the larger vase for my fiancée in Yew with a 26mm Cashmere fan knot. Hope you like them, chaps…
Axe, knife, saw, hand and eye. Just me and these tools plus a Forstner bit to drill the knot hole. A wee drop Liberon finishing oil and the handle is done. Some two part epoxy to glue the knot in and the brush is complete. Yes, I will sell a few later on as currently, I’m trying to build up stock. Then I propose to set up a Facebook page for ShedEleven Shaving Brushes.Look cool you made all that by yourself? That's sick! you sell them too?
So how long would you say it roughly takes to make the one?Axe, knife, saw, hand and eye. Just me and these tools plus a Forstner bit to drill the knot hole. I think they all work, they communicate ’rustic’ and only need two colours if you ever need to print them.Updated logos for different settings:

I’m not trying to be sneaky with advertising: I just would love our respected members’ opinions. I wanted to create something rustic and earthy yet professional and eye catching. My handles have that rustic, earthy feeling and although I’m just one chap with a knife, axe, lots of wood and passion, I want to communicate a certain brand. I’ve not a clue really, just trying my level best. Thanks chaps.
Thank you, sir. Your opinion is very welcome as always. That reminds me/‘I have a big pale piggy to set into a purpleheart handle soon and must dig out the zebrano.I think they all work, they communicate ’rustic’ and only need two colours if you ever need to print them.
That is quite an amazing skill you have there! I use a simple duplicator to make my wooden razor scales. Now I feel like I'm cheating.P.S. it takes me ruddy ages to make one! If I was to work out an hourly rate from what I could perhaps sell them for, it’d probably be about 4p an hour…
But I love doing it and making a mess so ShedEleven will be an outlet for my hobby that hopefully others will like too.
If it works and gets the results you need, then it most certainly ain’t cheating. That is quite an amazing skill you have there! I use a simple duplicator to make my wooden razor scales. Now I feel like I'm cheating.![]()
That's very kind of you to say, but my true pastime is woodworking and machining. And so, I appreciate anyone who can get their hands dirty and craft anything with minimal tools. This kind of stuff makes me want to dust off the lathe and turn something. I don't have the time or space anymore. My days need to be 48 hours long.If it works and gets the results you need, then it most certainly ain’t cheating.
It’d been boring if we all had the same approach and I heartily applaud all the skills of our talented members. Look at the design work you do for 3D printing? An art of mystical proportions to this Luddite..![]()
